Dear John Page #5

Synopsis: South Carolina US Army Special operations soldier John is on summer leave from his German base, visiting his widowed father. Being gallant on the pier, he befriends college student Savannah, a college student, and her buddies, a terminal father and his angelic son. John falls in love with Savannah, who diagnoses his beloved, gentle but weird father as mildly autistic. He plans not to sign up again, but 9/11 changes that, and she won't wait idly while their friends desperately need help.

so l finally just convinced my wife

this just made the most sense.

196

00:
11:04,777 -- 00:11:05,801

JOHN:

Mm.

197

00:
11:06,679 -- 00:11:09,512

She didn't want ice cream?

TlM:
Who? Oh, my wife?

198

00:
11:09,682 -- 00:11:12,446

JOHN:
Mm-hm.

Uh, no.

199

00:
11:12,618 -- 00:11:14,609

No, actually

she's on vacation herself.

200

00:
11:15,254 -- 00:11:17,848

White sheep, white sheep,

white sheep.

201

00:
11:18,024 -- 00:11:19,423

lt's kind of difficult

to take trips together.

202

00:
11:19,592 -- 00:11:21,355

White sheep.

203

00:
11:22,128 -- 00:11:25,097

lt's fine. We make it work.

204

00:
11:26,499 -- 00:11:28,490

l'm up here on the left.

205

00:
11:38,144 -- 00:11:40,476

TlM:

Hey, uh, John.

206

00:
11:40,646 -- 00:11:44,104

For the record, if you do

anything to hurt Savannah,

207

00:
11:44,283 -- 00:11:46,376

l'm gonna

have to break something.

208

00:
11:46,552 -- 00:11:49,817

Something in your leg.

Some-- One of the bones

in there.

209

00:
11:49,989 -- 00:11:51,013

[CHUCKLES]

210

00:
11:52,025 -- 00:11:53,151

Okay.

211

00:
11:53,326 -- 00:11:58,559

lt's just l know her father

and he would expect me

to say something like that.

212

00:
11:58,731 -- 00:12:02,497

lt'd just sound a lot more natural

coming out of his mouth.

213

00:
12:02,668 -- 00:12:04,033

lt sounded fine.

214

00:
12:04,537 -- 00:12:06,528

lt sounded fine.

215

00:
12:07,240 -- 00:12:08,571

No, it--

Yes, it did.

216

00:
12:08,741 -- 00:12:10,641

No, it didn't.

lt did. lt really did.

217

00:
12:10,810 -- 00:12:12,038

lt didn't. But thank you.

218

00:
12:12,211 -- 00:12:14,509

ALAN:
lt really did.

TlM:
You think so?

219

00:
12:14,680 -- 00:12:16,272

ALAN:
Yeah, it did.

TlM:
Okay.

220

00:
12:16,449 -- 00:12:17,643

[TlM & ALAN CHUCKLE]

221

00:
12:17,817 -- 00:12:19,045

[HORN HONKS]

222

00:
12:19,218 -- 00:12:21,379

TlM:
Hey, don't honk

the horn, it's nighttime.

223

00:
12:21,554 -- 00:12:23,021

ALAN:

Vroom, vroom!

224

00:
12:23,189 -- 00:12:24,417

[JOHN CHUCKLES]

225

00:
12:24,590 -- 00:12:27,024

TlM:
Good night, John.

JOHN:
Good night, Tim.

226

00:
12:27,193 -- 00:12:28,592

[ENGlNE STARTS]

227

00:
12:28,761 -- 00:12:31,697

Thanks for the ride.

Yeah, no problem.

228

00:
12:31,764 -- 00:12:34,096

[i/i]

229

00:
13:05,264 -- 00:13:06,561

[TlMER DlNGS]

230

00:
13:07,200 -- 00:13:11,466

Hey, Dad, l'm not,

uh, gonna be able

to stay for dinner.

231

00:
13:11,637 -- 00:13:13,901

Well, l made

lasagna.

232

00:
13:14,073 -- 00:13:16,371

l know you made lasagna.

lt's Sunday.

233

00:
13:16,542 -- 00:13:17,907

Um...

234

00:
13:18,277 -- 00:13:19,972

Can l borrow the car?

235

00:
13:29,055 -- 00:13:30,454
