Dear John Page #4

Synopsis: South Carolina US Army Special operations soldier John is on summer leave from his German base, visiting his widowed father. Being gallant on the pier, he befriends college student Savannah, a college student, and her buddies, a terminal father and his angelic son. John falls in love with Savannah, who diagnoses his beloved, gentle but weird father as mildly autistic. He plans not to sign up again, but 9/11 changes that, and she won't wait idly while their friends desperately need help.

JOHN:

Yeah.

155

00:
09:02,522 -- 00:09:03,546

SAVANNAH:

Wow.

156

00:
09:04,657 -- 00:09:07,524

You just-- You just

made your own fire.

157

00:
09:08,695 -- 00:09:10,959

That's very impressive.

158

00:
09:11,564 -- 00:09:12,690

Very primal.

159

00:
09:15,535 -- 00:09:18,834

But you're still not

gonna be able to cook

that hotdog, l fear.

160

00:
09:19,005 -- 00:09:20,836

l fear that as well.

161

00:
09:22,308 -- 00:09:24,572

l should probably

be getting going anyways.

162

00:
09:25,011 -- 00:09:29,607

l'm sorry. l hope you

don't get into, um,

too much trouble.

163

00:
09:29,782 -- 00:09:32,080

l think it's probably

too late for that.

164

00:
09:32,919 -- 00:09:34,181

Yeah.

165

00:
09:35,488 -- 00:09:37,115

Thank you.

166

00:
09:37,290 -- 00:09:40,282

Yeah. No, you're welcome.

167

00:
09:40,460 -- 00:09:42,860

[i/i]

168

00:
09:44,163 -- 00:09:47,257

Would you wanna maybe

do this again tomorrow night?

169

00:
09:47,433 -- 00:09:48,798

Tomorrow night

is chicken.

170

00:
09:48,968 -- 00:09:50,265

l don't think you're

gonna wanna try it.

171

00:
09:50,436 -- 00:09:53,872

Yeah, l was kind of hoping

maybe we'd let somebody

else do the cooking.

172

00:
09:54,040 -- 00:09:55,667

Type of thing.

173

00:
09:56,009 -- 00:09:58,273

Okay.

Yeah?

174

00:
10:00,013 -- 00:10:04,040

So maybe l'll come by around,

uh, 6 or something?

175

00:
10:05,351 -- 00:10:07,148

Okay.

All right.

176

00:
10:07,320 -- 00:10:08,947

Ah!

Whoa.

177

00:
10:09,155 -- 00:10:10,679

[GRUNTS]

178

00:
10:11,658 -- 00:10:13,489

So l'll see you soon, then?

179

00:
10:13,660 -- 00:10:15,059

l'll see you soon, then.

180

00:
10:15,228 -- 00:10:18,061

Yeah. Soon.

181

00:
10:19,933 -- 00:10:21,958

[VEHlCLE APPROACHlNG]

182

00:
10:23,069 -- 00:10:25,060

[GRUNTlNG]

183

00:
10:28,074 -- 00:10:30,235

TlM:
Hey.

Hey, man.

184

00:
10:30,710 -- 00:10:33,406

We're headed into town

for some ice cream.

You want a ride?

185

00:
10:33,579 -- 00:10:37,675

No, no, no, it's fine.

l don't mind walking

at all. lt's fine. Heh.

186

00:
10:38,651 -- 00:10:39,948

Sure?

187

00:
10:40,253 -- 00:10:41,515

ALAN:

Vroom, vroom!

188

00:
10:41,688 -- 00:10:44,589

All right. l appreciate it.

Yeah.

189

00:
10:44,757 -- 00:10:46,452

Hey, Alan,

move on over here.

190

00:
10:46,626 -- 00:10:47,923

Here, l'll undo your belt.

191

00:
10:50,330 -- 00:10:54,266

ALAN:

Five, six, seven, eight,

192

00:
10:54,434 -- 00:10:56,800

So how long y'all in town for?

nine.

193

00:
10:56,970 -- 00:10:58,335

Oh, we live here

year-round now.

194

00:
10:58,504 -- 00:11:01,337

Yeah, we were driving down

every weekend anyways,

195

00:
11:01,507 -- 00:11:04,601
