The Bodyguard Page #5

Synopsis: A pop singer has been receiving threatening notes, and her manager hires a bodyguard known for his good work. The bodyguard ruffles the singer's feathers and most of her entourage by tightening security more than they feel is necessary. The bodyguard is haunted by the fact that he was on Reagan's secret service staff but wasn't there to prevent the attack by Hinckley. Eventually the bodyguard and the singer start an affair, and she begins to believe his precautions are necessary when the stalker strikes close to home.

to pay him 25 more.

201

00:
22:33,019 -- 00:22:38,231

What if we kill him afterwards?

We'd get the whole 50 back.

202

00:
22:38,399 -- 00:22:40,859

- That's going too far!

- Quiet!

203

00:
22:41,027 -- 00:22:43,945

If you can't even do that,

forget about being the heir.

204

00:
22:44,113 -- 00:22:45,864

Honor means nothing

to gamblers.

205

00:
22:46,032 -- 00:22:47,866

Your mother's right.

206

00:
22:48,034 -- 00:22:51,911

You can't build a fortune unless

you're known as a killer and a thief.

207

00:
22:52,163 -- 00:22:54,289

You kill that two-bit samurai.

208

00:
22:58,586 -- 00:23:03,423

Treat him nice and he'll let down

his guard. It'll be easy.

209

00:
23:04,091 -- 00:23:07,802

The men won't respect you

unless you show you can kill.

210

00:
23:07,970 -- 00:23:11,598

But I killed

one of Ushitora's men!

211

00:
23:11,766 -- 00:23:13,850

One man!

Don't flatter yourself!

212

00:
23:14,018 -- 00:23:17,937

Some son you are.

What are you so afraid of?

213

00:
23:18,689 -- 00:23:22,859

Whether you kill one or one hundred,

you only hang once!

214

00:
23:35,623 -- 00:23:38,666

Twenty-five ryo exactly.

215

00:
23:48,844 -- 00:23:53,139

Master, let's drink

and get acquainted.

216

00:
23:53,432 -- 00:23:55,225

My son, Yoichiro.

217

00:
23:55,392 -- 00:23:56,601

My wife, Orin.

218

00:
23:56,769 -- 00:24:00,647

My four strongest men:

Magotaro, Yahachi,

219

00:
24:00,898 -- 00:24:03,525

Matsukichi and Sukeju.

220

00:
24:03,943 -- 00:24:06,277

Where's Master Homma?

221

00:
24:09,615 -- 00:24:12,826

By the way,

may I ask your name?

222

00:
24:14,995 -- 00:24:16,871

Me?

223

00:
24:23,170 -- 00:24:28,133

Sanjuro Kuwabatake...

(30-year-old Mulberry Field)

224

00:
24:28,300 -- 00:24:30,301

but I'm almost 40.

225

00:
24:30,469 -- 00:24:32,011

You must be joking!

226

00:
24:32,346 -- 00:24:35,014

As names go,

it's good enough.

227

00:
24:35,182 -- 00:24:37,767

I'm a complete stranger, anyway.

228

00:
24:50,197 -- 00:24:54,409

Master, why sit over there?

Come sit here.

229

00:
24:54,577 -- 00:24:56,077

Here will do.

230

00:
24:56,245 -- 00:25:00,748

He gets 50 ryo, and I only get two.

He's in a different class.

231

00:
25:02,168 -- 00:25:05,837

Someday I'll show you

my true worth.

232

00:
25:06,005 -- 00:25:09,132

Maybe sooner than you think.

How about today?

233

00:
25:11,051 -- 00:25:14,804

We raid today at noon!

234

00:
25:14,972 -- 00:25:18,016

In plain daylight, boss?

235

00:
25:18,184 -- 00:25:22,937

We haven't won until we kill

Ushitora and Inokichi.

236

00:
25:23,314 -- 00:25:26,191

They could run away at night.

237

00:
25:28,319 -- 00:25:30,111

Don't be afraid!
