JYN ERSO:
Hope?

CASSIAN ANDOR:
Yeah. Rebellions are built on hope.

The squad of stormtroopers approaches a citizen and is about to search their house. The citizen protests inaudibly in an alien language.

STORMTROOPER:
Hands where I can see them. Get over there! Show me some identification. Check inside.

JYN ERSO:
Is this all because of your pilot?

She notices Chirrut Imwe, blind and dressed in monk-like robes, sitting beside the street.

CHIRRUT ÎMWE:
May the Force of others be with you. May the Force of others be with you.

CASSIAN ANDOR:
Wait for me.

Cassian walks off, leaving Jyn standing there.

CHIRRUT ÎMWE:
May the Force of others be with you. May the Force of others be with you.

CHIRRUT ÎMWE:
Would you trade that necklace for a glimpse into your future? (Jyn turns around and comes closer, alarmed and interested). Yes, I’m speaking to you. I am Chirrut Îmwe.

JYN ERSO:
How did you know I was wearing a necklace?

CHIRRUT ÎMWE:
For that answer you must pay. What do you know of kyber crystals?

JYN ERSO:
My father, he said they powered the Jedi lightsabers.

Cassian returns and finds her talking to Chirrut.

CASSIAN ANDOR:
Jyn. Come on, let’s go.

CHIRRUT ÎMWE:
The strongest stars have hearts of kyber.

Cassian pulls Jyn away as Chirrut speaks.

CASSIAN ANDOR:
Let’s go. We’re not here to make friends.

JYN ERSO:
Who are they?

CASSIAN ANDOR:
The Guardians of the Whills. Protectors of the Kyber Temple. But there’s nothing left to protect, so now they’re just causing trouble for everybody.

JYN ERSO:
You seem awfully tense all of a sudden.

CASSIAN ANDOR:
We have to hurry. This town, it’s ready to blow.

Cassian and Jyn push quickly throught the crowd when they notice a heavily guarded Imperial transport move along the street. Jyn looks up to see armed people waiting on the roofs and several more hiding in the pathways next to the main street. She looks at Cassian nervously.

STORMTROOPER 1:
Citizens of the Empire, Imperial forces...

A partisan throws a thermal detonator underneath the tank accompanying the transport. The tank explodes and Partisans begin fighting the stormtroopers. Chaos begins as people run away and firing begins. Jyn and Cassian hide behind a wall, blasters ready.

JYN ERSO:
Tell me you have a backup plan.

STORMTROOPER 1:
Incoming!

STORMTROOPER 2:
Put your guns down.

STORMTROOPER 1:
Behind us!

JYN ERSO:
Looks like we found Saw’s rebels.

Jyn sees a small child standing under a tall tower, crying. She runs to save her and covers her with her body as the two fall to the ground. A partisan shoots the stormtroopers from the top of the tower.
