Pilgrimage Page #2

Synopsis: Ireland, 1209. An island on the edge of the world. A small group of monks begin a reluctant pilgrimage across an island torn between centuries of tribal warfare and the growing power of Norman invaders. Escorting their monastery's holiest relic to Rome, the monks' progress is seen through the eyes of a pious young novice and a mute lay-brother with a violent past. As the true material, political and religious significance of the bejeweled relic becomes dangerously apparent, their path to the east coast becomes increasingly fraught with danger. The monks belatedly realize that in this wild land of ancient superstitions, the faith that binds them together may ultimately lead to their destruction.

I will discuss that with your father.

You want to find my father? Well, I take you to him.

Bastards...

Your.

What is that?

Death. This land was theirs.

The gray aliens burned.

They prayed for God in the battle. God did not listen.

Then they began to worship other things.

Dugald.

They're thieves.

Retnganlos.

I imagine that when you join the monastery,

They not told you that you could be a workhorse.

He's not a monk, my lord. It is a converted a lay brother.

Some of my men think they know,

but not here.

A crusade, right?

Venice?

Constantinople?

Maybe you can solve the problem.

- They made a small bet. - It's dumb.

- He does not speak. - She bit her tongue?

- it is also deaf? - He can hear.

But chooses not to.

Dime...

How does a man with no voice confesses sins?

We pray for him.

Lucky...

You have friends who testify for you, simply by faith.

It's like saying, my lord.

They are hunters, they will not again.

Fournier.

Fournier.

My father has awakened?

I brought guests.

Blessed brother.

My lord Baron.

I thought you were still in the south.

My boundaries are like gardens growing.

Before planting new flowers, we need to pull weeds.

He found what he was looking for, I think.

Yes, I've found. Your help will not go unnoticed.

I would have liked to go on pilgrimage with you.

See Rome. See the relic and be presented to His Holiness.

But unfortunately, I'm an old man now.

I'll probably be buried in these lands.

Perhaps you allow

you see the relic,

to give me strength in my prayers,

and my knights inspired by it,

to further assist in their sacred mission.

How the Church can refuse such a loyal servant?

It's a beautiful box.

It is a humble package. Brother Ciarn?

This is unwise.

After Judas betrayed Christ, the apostles sought a substitute

Belen and Matthias was chosen.

After the death and resurrection of our Lord,

Matthias traveled north,

to bring the Gospel to the barbarians of Cappadocia.

He was martyred there.

When the stones of the pagans broke their bones and shed their blood.

Matthias gave thanks.

A stone that ended his earthly life.

It caught fire and burned men who killed him.

They cried and cried mercy, but the earth opened and swallowed,

while the body of Matthias ascended into heaven.

And this was the stone.

Awesome.

Forgive the impertinence of my son.

He was born in Ruan, but lives in these lands long ago.

They tear down the forests, and they will attack the mountains.

Encircle the mountains and hide in the marshes.

Is not the same?

How to deal with people like that, brother?

Dry marshes.

He is absolutely right, brother.

- Permit. - Of course.

Raymond, pour me wine.
