Love me,Kill me not

This is a story about a young man who ended his own life.The reason is uncertain and not clear.It is clear to the detective that it was not manslaughter but yet she is still interested in the case as if it is one to be solved.She decides to interview a close friend of his who she feels might have a link to reason.This close friend also don't know the reason but the detective doesn't lose hope as she hopes to find answers through his last emotions that might be similar to one of her personal experiences with a loved one.

[Scene 1]

(This scene takes place in the bathroom where the self suicide occurred.The forensic investigators are busy examining the body.One of them approach the detective)

Forensic:
We can say with clarity that it is

not murder.All the evidence proves

that he indeed took his own life.

Detective:
Thank you

(The forensic walks back to the body)

[Scene 2]

(This scene takes place in an investigation room.The detective sits opposite the person who will answer her questions.Both the characters are dressed in black clothes)

Detective:
Promise to be honest?

friend:
Do I have to?

This is not even part of your job.

Detective:
Don't remind me.Excuse my interest.

friend:
(nonchalant) Whatever , I will be honest.Just want to get this over with.

Detective:
(calm but teary in the eyes) What was his personality like?

friend :
(thinks and then answer) Well ,he was both talkative and quiet.He was charming.He always smiled.He was a big fan of laughing.It got him into trouble at times.

(friend slightly laughs)

He was lazy.He was confused.Smart

He was full of acceptance.

Detective:
Anything else

friend:
No.That is how I remember him.

Detective:
What was his interests?

friend:
he was very into reading books.

He had interest in science in well

Detective:
why on earth would he kill himself

because of that?

friend:
(laughs)

Detective:
(serious) Tell me more about your

relationship with him.

friend:
I am considered his closest friend...or

was.What more is there to tell?

Detective:
His deepest thoughts.His daily life.

Go on, I am listening.

friend:
I never understood him most of the time

, but here is what I can remember...

[Scene 3][Flashback]

(This scene takes place inside a bedroom.The deceased is sitting on a chair smoking.The friend is knocking and entering the room)

friend:
hellos.Smoking again I see.

Jamie:
Happiness lies within sin most of the

time

friend:
(smiles and nods her head)

Jamie:
It's true.Deep down you know it

friend:
Not entirely true.Your "happiness" will

lead to an early death.That is what I

know.

Jamie:
There is so much we don't know.

So many things we think we know

So many truths yet to be discovered

It excites me (smiles)

(friend nods her head and seems confused)

friend:
Anyway what is on your mind today?

And please be realistic.Stop joking

Jamie:
The usual spacey stuff.

(He takes another deep and long smoke and hands it out to her)

Jamie:
come on, you won't die right now

friend:
No thanks.Not for me.

Jamie:
You are making a mistake...

friend:
how is not damaging yourself a mistake?

Jamie:
Doesn't matter if you do...

It's just our time on earth anyway!

(Jamie laughs out loud)

[Scene 4]

(This scene takes place in the investigation room)

friend:
That was his personality.There is a lot

more but that basically sums it up.

Detective:
What a different person,I must say

His view of life was so... special.

Friend:
(curious) it's clear to me now that you

share a deep interest in his life.

May I ask why?

Detective:
(serious) I ask the questions here.

Let's step outside.Time for a break.

(The detective and the friend both stands up and walks outside.They go on sit on a bench.The friend walks away to get coffee.The detective lights up a cigarette)

[Scene 5]

(This scene is a flashback.It is a memory of the detective and her late son)

(The detective is walking up and down angry and screaming on the phone.Her son is sitting on a chair faced to a piece of art that he is busy painting)

son:
Mom, look I am almost finished

(His mom doesn't hear it and continues speaking on the phone.The son continue painting)

Detective:
(on the cellphone) Tell me you tracked

him down. Please do.

voice over the cellphone:It was a dead end,

I'm sorry

Detective:
oh no...(starts crying) Useless !!!

Call me when you get better news!

(Detective hangs up and go sit hopelessly on in a corner crying)

(The son sees her crying and brings her the painting)

son:
Look mom.Did I do well ?

Detective:
(stares confusingly) I don't see

any...deep meaning.It's not clear to

me.It makes no sense.Nothing do!!

son (sad) but mommy..u see this...

Detective:
Shut up! I don't care.

(The son walks to his room crying)

(The detective continue crying)
