EXT. BACKYARD - AFTERNOON

The scene opens with an aerial view of the backyard. You can see some kids in the pool from above and some big canopy round umbrellas with different adult feet poking out that are wearing either sandals or slippers. A few towels are on the side of the pool arranged horizontal to it. The pool is like a big B shape with one side of the B being a shallow end pool where the kids are playing. The water on that end is much lighter blue than where the water is deeper.

CLOSE ON:

Camera focus is on swimming goggles with eyes closed. As it draws backwards, a young kid is wearing them sleeping on a red pool round floating tube. He has on white swimming shorts with a big smiling sun on the left leg and seems to be enjoying the sunlight.

ARLO:

(Smiling)

Mmmmmm.....Nice sunshine!

BURKE:

(Focus is turned to him also sleeping on the pool tube, yellow in color. He has on black swimming shorts with a sunset on one side)

You can say that again.

ARLO:

(Relaxed)

I wish they could be much more silent.

BURKE:

(Focus is turned to him also sleeping on the pool tube, yellow in color. He has on black swimming shorts with a sunset on one side)

FOR SURE!

Focus is turned to the other kids.

JETT and FLINT are sleeping on their towels near the pool. They both have on plain navy blue swimming trunks.

They appear to have come from the pool for they are WET.

PEAR is seated at the edge of the pool wearing a purple swimsuit.

ENZO, TINSLEY and XENA are busy jumping into the pool.

ENZO:

(Shouting)

CANON BALL!

He JUMPS into the pool and causes a BIG SPLASH!

All the kids have life vests on. FLINT has on his hands floaters but not a life vest.

XENA:

(Shouting)

CANON BALL!

TINSLEY:

(Shouting)

CANON BALL!

ARLO:

(Relaxed)

Too much NOISE.

BURKE:

(Enjoying the sunshine. He too has goggles on)

I AGREE!

SUDDENLY:

CORA:

(At the edge of the pool. She is wearing a sun dress with white little flowers and white sandals. On her hair is a big brown straw hat)

COME ON ALL! I got some TREATS for you.

The kids in the pool dash to the edge of the pool.

JETT and FLINT QUICKLY WAKE UP and WALK to CORA.

No RUNNING on the pool side.

ARLO and BURKE MAINTAIN their POSE but remove their goggles.

ARLO:

(Does not seem bothered)

WHAT IS IT NOW MOM?

CORA:

(Not pleased her boys are not coming out of the water)

COME HERE YOU TWO RIGHT THIS MINUTE!

ARLO:

(Gets off his tube and starts to swim towards the edge of the pool)

OKAY Mom. Fine.

BURKE:

(Also starts to swim to the edge of the pool. Asks lazily)

What is it mom?

CORA WAVES the basket and inside are ice cream pops of different colors.

CORA:

(Smiling heartily)

I got something nice for all of you!

PEAR:

(Happy)

ICE CREAM POPS!

CORA:

(Chuckles a little bit)

YES PEAR. ICE CREAM POPS! But you all have to get out of the pool. No eating in the pool. Then go to the towels and I shall each give you your favorite color.

The kids are super excited.

Focus is turned to the canopy umbrellas for a brief second.

Inside is HOLDEN wearing a sunhat light blue in color, a light blue shirt that is unbuttoned and white shorts. He has on black sandals but he is not wearing them. He seems to concentrate on Cora and the kids. He peers at them through his hanging sunglasses.

Next to him is BESSIE wearing a navy swimsuit with a big yellow sunhat and yellow slippers.

RAFE is seated next to Cora. He is holding his walking stick, he has on a white vest and long khaki-like trousers with brown sandals.

The clothes are NOT their ORDINARY ATTIRE.

Once on their towels Cora appears next to them.

CORA:

(Smiling)

Call out your color and I shall hand you an ice cream pop.

BURKE:

(Lifts his hand high)

BLUE.

CORA:

(Smiling)

Blueberry for you BURKE.

ARLO:

(Lifts his hand high)

RED.

CORA:

(Smiling)

ARLO, STRAWBERRY for you.
