Angel Page #4

Synopsis: Saxophonist Danny witnesses the murder of his band manager and a deaf-mute girl after a gig. Questioned by the police, he remembers only the orthopedic shoes of the killers' leader. So begins his quest to avenge her. He seeks an answer to the simple question 'Why?' but finds only more, and deeper, questions which resonate with the wider context of 'the Troubles', the inter-communal strife gripping the modern-day Northern Ireland which is the film's setting.

Did you shoot her?

No!

Who did?

Don't ask questions.

Hey .. what's your name?

Huh?

That thing doesn't suit you.

You shouldn't have done that!

Tell me, George!

Don't leave me now.

Don't leave me until ..

George .. George ..

Tell me, George.

We're playing at eight. We can

hang around the camp until then.

It's our first gig, so

make it a good one.

Right .. you first.

Why?

Appearances.

What's this all about?

He paid them .. he paid the cameras.

Give us a smile there, Danny,

Why?

It's what managers do.

Did you know Ben Coyne?

Who?

Ben Coyne. You used to play

with him in the Shangri-La.

I've played with a lot of bands, kid.

So have I.

Ladies and gentlemen, sorry to say that

couples 7 and 4 have been eliminated.

But we will continue with a samba.

Should have known you'd be here.

Your magic cowboy. Fancy a samba, kid?

I fancy you.

Who taught you to dance?

My auntie Mae.

We can win this you know.

Leave them standing.

We're too young.

Will all couples not in the

competitin please leave the floor.

He means us.

Let's join the competition.

We need a number.

Clear the floor please. Clear the floor!

Danny! Dee!

Danny, will you come on. We'll

never get finished .. come on.

Okay, okay, okay.

Where's this gig then?

Back at the camp.

Okay, well line you up here.

Quick as you can, quick as you can.

Along here?

"But come you back."

"When summer is in the meadow."

"Or when the valley is hushed

and white with snow."

"For I'll be here in

sunshine or in shadow"

"Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy."

"I love you so."

See .. we'd make a pair.

Why didn't you tell me that before?

I didn't notice.

Nice tree isn't it? Do you

want to make a wish?

Can I stay with you tonight?

Ask my manager.

He's dead.

I didn't mean that.

What time is it?

Twenty past twelve.

Are you a convent girl?

I'm your woman, Danny.

Tell me what a "sin" is.

It's a habit Catholics indulge in.

What about protestants?

They don't know what sinning is.

You do, though.

You amuse me. Do you know that?

You never did before.

You never played the soprano.

I'm waiting on the right tune.

See you Monday.

I've played for them all .. The

Clipper Carlton. The Romantics.

Johnny Wonder and The Blue Lagoon.

And now?

I play for The Lord.

Someone called to see you.

Who?

A government man.

Did you show them?

What?

Did you make them dance?

They'd have done that anyway, Mae.

Listen .. do you remember?

I taught you to dance.

Dum di, dum, di dum. Come on ..

Oh Danny.

Hurry up Danny.

They want you.

You'd better come.

What is this place?

It's a dormitory.

It's a place where people sleep.

If you listen .. you can hear them.
