"Champagne and caviar and gumbo," Sam said. "You can't say no to that."

"Correction," replied Katie. "You can't say no to gumbo and caviar and champagne. I can't say no to caviar and champagne."

"Because I love and like gumbo," He replied.

"Well, believe me, Sam," Katie responded. "I would die if I ate gumbo."

"Well, My Dear," Sam replied. "You don't have to eat gumbo."

"I guess not," She responded.

They made love. Later they went to that party. “There y’all are,” Victoria said. “How are y’all?”

“Great I guess,” responded Sam.

“Awesome,” Katie replied.

“Howdy,” David, Victoria’s boyfriend, said. “How are y’all?”

“Pretty darn good, David,” Sam responded.

“Good, David, Good,” Katie replied.

“Hi,” Everyone else at the party said.

“Hi there,” Chuck said.

“Hello Chuck,” responded Sam.

“Chuck,” Katie replied.

“Katie,” He responded.

“Hi,” Brittany, Chuck’s girlfriend said.

“Hello,” Sam responded.

“Greetings,” Katie replied.

"A glass of Champagne," David's and Victoria's maid, Sandra said. Holding a tray or whatever you call that. Holding the 2 glasses of champagne.

"Thank you," Sam replied.

"Thank you very much," Katie responded.

"Hey Katie," said a very young, Mexican lady.

"Hi Susan," Katie said.

They hugged each other. Then she hugged Sam. "It's great to see y'all," Susan said.

"Likewise," Sam responded.

"Well, right back to ya, Susan," Katie replied.

"Sam," Another Yale student said. "What's your opinion of A Separate Peace, John Knowles?"

"Historic and powerful and finally pure," Sam replied, smiling.

"Nice," He responded.

"My favorite character of that," Katie said. "Is Gene."

"Well, my so-called best-loved character," Sam said. "Is Finny."

"That's typical," She said.

"Oh yeah," He replied.

Chapter 4

Sam and Katie kissed. "Well, tonight was epic," Sam said. They returned to their dorm.

"Oh yeah," responded Katie.

The next day, at like 4 PM something. Sam went into work. "Working late tonight?" Katie said.

"Apparently yes," He responded.

Sam made his arrival to work. "Hey Bud," Anthony said.

"Hi," Sam said.

"Well, this will be," Anthony said. "A great polar opposite for you. Working a night shift this evening."

"Yes," Sam replied.

"You can do it," He responded. "You're a hard worker. And one of my best at that."
