that Little Red-Haired Girl.

What a bully. She got up.

But look,

he's gonna push her down again.

Oh, why aren't I tough?

Why can't I rush over there and save her?

Because I'd get slaughtered, that's why.

I'm not tough. I'm not anything. I'm...

[Blanket Snaps]

Linus:
I'll take care of him, Charlie Brown. [Linus exits]

[Blanket Snaps]

[Linus enters]

Linus:
You can relax, Charlie Brown.

He won't bother her anymore.

Charlie Brown:
That's very comforting.

I'm the friend of a hero.

[Scene fades to the classroom, Marcie is writing on paper]

Peppermint Patty: What are you writing, Marcie?

Marcie:
I'm sending a valentine to Charles.

Peppermint Patty: You can't do that.

He'll think you like him.

Marcie:
I do. I'm very fond of Charles.

Peppermint Patty: Why don't you sign my name too?

Marcie:
Oh, sure. Hitch a ride on my valentine.

[scene fades to Marcie at the front door of the Brown’s house, Marcie Knocks]

[Door opens to Charlie Brown]

Charlie Brown:
Yes?

Marcie:
I may or may not be sending you

a valentine, Charles...

...so I need to know something.

Do you like me, Charles?

Charlie Brown:
Do I what?

Marcie:
I walk all the way over here

to ask you a question...

...and all you can say is, "Do I what?"

Forget it, Charles.

Charlie Brown:
Forget what?

[Scene fades to Charlie Brown’s hand in his mailbox, he takes out a letter]

Peppermint Patty: Got a letter in the mail, eh, Chuck?

Charlie Brown:
"I know you like me,

and in my own way, I like you too. "

I think it's from that Little Red-Haired Girl.

She knows I like her and...

Peppermint Patty: That's not from any Little Red-Haired Girl,

Chuck.

That letter is from me.

You like me, Chuck.

Charlie Brown:
I do?

[scene fades to Marcie’s bedroom, Marcie is on her bed on the phone]

Marcie:
(on the phone) Hi, Charles. Remember yesterday

when I went to your house?

I walked all the way over

to ask you if you liked me.

Charlie Brown:
(on the phone) To do what?

Marcie:
(hanging up the phone) I can't stand it.

[scene fades to Schroeder’s house, Schroeder is playing a piano, Lucy is leaning on it]

Lucy:
Next week is Valentine's Day.

Are you going to give me a valentine?

Schroeder:
I never have. What makes you think

I'll give you one this year?

Lucy:
Hope!

[Lucy shouts so loud Schroeder accidentally back-flips away from his piano and thuds to the ground off-screen]

[scene cuts to a hallway in the Brown’s house]

Charlie Brown:
Isn't this a beautifuI valentine?

It says, "I love you. "

I think I'll give it

to the Little Red-Haired Girl!

Sally:
(Walking away past him) She'll probably laugh right in your face.

Charlie Brown:
At least I'd be near her.

[Snoopy enters]

[Charlie Brown shows his valentine to Snoopy]

Charlie Brown:
What do you think? This is a valentine
