FlashChat is a simple, customizable chat room that anyone can add to a PHP/MySQL-enabled website. It includes support for multiple chat forums, administrative controls, file-sharing, multi-byte languages, and IRC-like options, including /ban, /ignore, /alert, and dozens more. For a complete list of FlashChat's IRC options, refer to the <a target=_blank href=http://tufat.com/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=IrcOptions>FlashChat Wiki</a>.FlashChat was one of the original (maybe THE original) Flash-based chatrooms on the web when it was first introduced in 1999. Since then, it has grown to a much more complex and customiable system, and uses Flash MX technology, with PHP/MySQL to run the backend engine. FlashChat does NOT require any other server components, like FlashComm or Java, nor does it require any special server extensions. If you just have a default PHP/MySQL installation on either a Unix/Linux or Windows server, you can set up FlashChat on your website in minutes! The current version of FlashChat allows extensive customization of the chat themes and background, and which interface elements to show or hide. Nearly every aspect of the interface is controllable through these configuration options: the layout and position of the button controls, the position of the roomlist, the default skin and color theme, etc. Advanced administrative controls exist to change the frequency of chat refreshes to reduce the load on your server, and also to set the maximum message size to reduce bandwidth. Overall, there are over 200 configuration options (and counting!) for FlashChat. It is very easy to set up since detailed installation instructions are included with the script upon purchase, as well as a simple installation file to simplify the process. Just upload the FlashChat files, run install.php from your web browser, and voila! To get a better sense of the options that you can configure in FlashChat, try any of the links shown below. To see an example of this, login to the <a target=_blank href=http://www.tufat.com/phpBB2/>Support Forum</a>, then click on the FlashChat link in the upper right corner of the screen. You will need to be a registered phpBB user before you may begin chatting. In addition to integrating with systems like phpBB, FlashChat comes with an advanced installer which can configure FlashChat to draw data from your very own (custom) user database!
