THE VAMPIRE KILLER.

Scene one.

(Four friends, Tess, Jake, Mike and Jean, are seated in Jean’s apartment drinking vodka from the same bottle. The TV is on and there is a live broadcast from the chief of police. They have found yet another body of a young woman in the cemetery. It has the distinctive bite marks which are left by the killer as his serial killer mark. A bounty for 50 grand is put out to whoever has information leading to the killer’s capture.)

TESS.

(Turning off the TV) This sh*t sucks. I hope they catch this loser fast.(Sadly) I miss going out to the club at night and now my mom won’t let me.

JAKE.

You people are scared for no reason. I go to the club always and as you can see ( twirling) I’m alive.

TESS.

Well you can. The killer’s profile is young women.

JAKE.

(Chuckling) Well glad I’m a dude right?

JEAN.

Guys I just thought of the best idea. What if we form a posse and catch that loser and get the fifty grand. We will just smoke him out, tackle him and get the cops. (Shrugging his shoulders) Ain’t no way he can take all of us.

MIKE.

How high are you bro? You think the cops haven’t thought of that.

JEAN.

Of course they did but you all know they like sticking to the books.

JAKE.

(Excitedly) I’m down bro. It’s 50 grand man.

TESS.

You guys are crazy! You are going to die.

JEAN.

Didn’t you say he only kills young ladies?

TESS.

And you want me to come with you?

JAKE.

You can stay in the car as our look out. No one is going to know.

TESS.

(Standing up) Assuming I agree to this plan, how are you going to smoke him out?

JEAN.

(With a proud face) Well, I’ve looked into this. All the women killed used to work late and they were all walking through isolated places. They had no defense wounds meaning he must have chloroformed them.

MIKE.

So?

JEAN.

So…. We just need a bait. Use a girl, follow her and when he attacks, boom! We tackle him and call the cops….(sliding in his chair) easy.

JAKE.

And where do we get someone dumb enough to be used as bait?

JEAN.

Two words, (long pause) CALL-GIRL! We will call her really late and tell her to come to Apex apartments. To get there she has to go through King park which is closed…. Perfect!

TESS.

(Rubbing her temples) You guys are sick. You will get a young girl killed.

JAKE.

We will hide in the park, nothing will happen.

JEAN.

Besides Tess you will get 10k when we split the cash. You can get your own apartment and party all night with no worries. What do you say?

TESS.

(Sighs) I really hope this goes as planned… I’m in.

JAKE.

(In a loud voice) OPERATION GET THE VAMPIRE KILLER IS A GO!

SCENE 2.

Tess.

(Standing up) Anyway you guys, I need to get home before mom starts shouting.

Jake.

Why can't you tell your mom you are at a sleepover at your friend's place?

Tess.

(Laughing) with you guys. No thanks. I still want to wake up in one piece.

Jean.

(Chuckling) Weh!

Mike.

Okay let's go together on my way home.

Tess.

Kay Kay Mike.

Jake.

Bye you guys and take care. See you tomorrow.

Tess.

(At the sidewalk outside the apartment) I can't help but feel like this is a bad plan.

Mike.

Yeah. I too have my doubts about it but let's just polish up on it when we meet again.

Tess.

Agreed. (Sighs) Using an innocent girl. What if something goes wrong.

Mike.

I guess that's why they are looking for a call girl. I mean police won't care if she went missing, besides, we'll be there with her.

Tess.

But still……..

Mike.

(Holding her shoulders while standing in front of her facing her) Don’t worry about her Tess.

Tess.

…….....

Mike.

(Sighing) Come. (Pulls her in for a hug) It’s going to be fine. Trust me.

Tess.

Okay.

Mike.

(Let’s her go but still holds her hand) Let's get you home now. I don't want your mom to scream at you.

Tess.

(Flushed) o….okay.

Mike.

Okay. ( Turning to face her) I’ll see you soon baby girl. ( Hugs her)

Tess.

(Looking down while blushing) Umm…..okay.

Mike.

(With a mischievous grin) What's wrong?

Tess.

I’m fine don’t worry.

Mike.

(Caresses her cheek) Okay. Goodnight sweet.

Tess.

Goodnight Mike.

Mike.

(Turning around) Tess….ummm…take care of yourself, okay? Bye. ( walks away.)

THE VAMPIRE KILLER.

SCENE 3.

TESS:
(Gets in and locks the door behind her. Sliding down against the door smiling sadly.) Tess why are you so weak In front of him. People like you don’t deserve love from angels like him. (Chuckling sadly) Your joker is waiting for you elsewhere.

ANSTELLA:
You’re home. How was your day?

TESS:
I’m fine. How are you doing Mom?

ANSTELLA:
Yeah. The nurse came. She just left.

TESS:
(staring at her phone) hmm.

ANSTELLA:
Tess?

TESS:
(Smiling) It’s nothing mom I’m just so happy. (Kisses her and rans off)

ANSTELLA:
(Surprised) Wait….Tess?

(IN TESS’S ROOM)

TESS:
(Standing by the window) It’s funny how you’re still living a perfectly smooth life mother. You got dad killed and she hires a personal nurse for you! But I guess it’s okay. I can have enough time to make you pay for-

( Phone rings and cuts her off)

TESS:
(Stares with a blank face for a while then picks up) Hello Mike.

MIKE:
Hello princess. I just called to check if you’re okay.
