The son of filmmaker Albert Band, Charles Band followed in his father's shoes. After several years as an independent filmmaker, he started Empire Pictures in the mid-'80s. That company collapsed due to the falling Italian currency--the company's studio was headquartered in Italy--Band established Full Moon Pictures. Full Moon has grown into an empire with several subsidiary companies, including Pulsepounders, Surrender Cinema, Pulp Fantasy, Action Xtreme, Alchemy, Filmonsters, Moonbeam, Torchlight, Monster Island and Cult Video.
