Surrogates

Synopsis: People are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via robotic surrogates -- sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves. It's an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences don't exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery.

Using the Translated subs floating

around from an automated translation

as a source for time stamps.

Look at yourselves.

Unplug from your chairs,

get up and look in the mirror.

What you see is how God made you.

We're not meant to experience the

world through a machine.

What you're telling me is -

a monkey is operating this arm

with nothing but his thoughts?

Absolutely.

There are 100 sensors,

each listening to a different brain cell

or neuron.

Physicaly disabed people

will be able to operate

fully synthetic bodies.

It provides a tremendous

amount of hope for the future.

Because of the technology that

we have, at a time of war

we're going to start seeing this more and more.

As manufacturing capacity

expanded for military/industrial use

Surrogates became affordable

to the general public

Causing a revolution in how

in how we live.

The ability to leave your home

without risk of disease or injury

To have perfect looks without trips to the gym

or plastic surgery

There is no question that at some

point they will be persons like anyone else

They will not be human, but that they will be part

of our community?

There is no question

in my mind.

The decision came down 5 to 4

That the Supreme Court ruled in favor

of the use of surrogates in daily life.

Right now, we are witnessing an

event

That is of an evolutionary significance

According to VSI, the industries

leading manufacturer,

over 98% of world population

uses a surrogate in all

facets of their daily life

We're in the midst of profound

changes that are things that were once

unimaginable have become inevitable

Since the global embrace of surrogacy

crime rates have dropped

to record lows

We have witnessed and incredible

reduction in violent crime

communicable disease and discrimination.

Problems that have plagued

societies for centuries

solved almost overnight.

We are the creators.

We will be making them

Do everything for us. All in one machine.

But there is a minority who

actively oppose Surrogates

And are moving to limit their use.

Many people will see this

as the invasion of the inhuman.

They've established reservations or

Surrogacy free zones

in major cities around the country.

They are led by Zaire Powell

or as he is better known

to his followers

The Prophet.

Those machines walking around out there

They're a lie.

You have been sold a lie.

Currently.

You're going to love Tosca

- Alright, but don't tell me how it ends.

- The way they all end.

Everyone dies.

I'm so glad you could

come back east for a visit.

Well... anything for a break from exams.

We're almost there.

Listen... thanks for lending it to me.

Have a wonderful time.

I love you.

I love you too Dad.

You know Armando

I'm not really in the mood for opera

Four Point?

You read my mind.

Get lost meat bag

I'm agent Peters.

This is Agent Greer... FBI.

Yeah... some jackass on a motorcycle

wiped out a bunch of units

So what do you need us for?

Well I was going to file just a vandalism report

but it turns out this unit's unregistered.

Looks like it's going to need new optics

No sh*t

The memory chip is completely fried.

Whatya got on the girl?

Registered to a

Cameron McAllister.

He file a report?

No, that's just it, no calls, no nothin'

Come on.

Let's go talk to

our operator.

Cam?

Maybe nobody's home.

My Surries in for an upgrade

and they gave me this crappy loaner.

Could you?

Certainly.

Cam?

Cam's a good tenant you know, pays the

rent on time, never leaves the apartment.

Cam?

Cam?

Oh my God!

Don't touch anything, please.

I'll call it in.

- You're sure this is Cameron McAllister?

- Yes!

This is Agent Peters, we

tracked down the operator.

Yeah

Better send a coroner

Connection interrupted.

Have you ever seen anything like this?

Morning

Where's your....

In the... charge room.

You pull another all nighter?

Yes I did

Why don't you think about taking a break?

- A break?

- Mmmmhmmm

I got some vacation time saved up

How about Hawaii?

Lisa said she got an amazing deal

Hawaii would be great

She had this totally buff Surrie in Maui,

She took it surfing, parasailing, deep sea diving.

You know that rental place on Boilston?

I was thinking about US.

You and me going away some place together.

And leave our units at home?

Are you kidding?

- We could take a drive out to the Cape?

We haven't done that for a while...

- Could talk about this another time?

You now I should get to work, the

shops been really busy, everyone

wants me to look for somewhere and...

Yeah... I was just thinking that...

Ummm...

It just feels like we...

- Haven't really spent much time together lately.

- We're together every day.

Surrogates...

Not the same...

It's better.

College West, San Diego.

Yo Canter?

He's been in there all weekend.

He's gonna miss the Psych final.

Jesus!

Someone call the cops!

We are confronted by an

unprecedented situation.

Two people have died while

connected to their stim chairs.

According to the pathologist,

their brains were liquefied in their skulls.

What ever happened to

their surrogates, killed them.

Sir?

- How's it even possible?

- We don't know.

I'm imposing a total media blackout.

No one in this office is going to be responsible

for setting off a nationwide panic.

The public cannot be allowed to get the idea

that using a surrogate can be fatal.

Michael Ferris

Michael Ferris (21 November 1931 – 20 March 2000) was an Irish Labour Party politician who served for more than twenty years as a member of the Oireachtas, as both a Senator and a Teachta Dála (TD). Before becoming a full-time politician, he was secretary to a veterinary practice. Ferris was a native of Bansha, County Tipperary. There, in the 1950s, he came under the influence of the Very Reverend Canon John Hayes, founder of Muintir na Tíre, and adopted many of his ideas for rural development embracing all sections of the community in an inclusive way. He was elected to the 13th Seanad by the Agricultural Panel in a by-election on 23 April 1975. At the 1977 general election, he was an unsuccessful candidate for Dáil Éireann in the Tipperary South constituency, and was also defeated at the subsequent Seanad elections. He was re-elected in 1981 to the 15th Seanad, and returned again in 1982 and 1983.At the 1987 general election, Ferris unsuccessfully stood again in Tipperary South, but was afterwards re-elected to the 18th Seanad, again by the Agricultural Panel. In the 1989 election to the European Parliament he was defeated in the Munster constituency, trailing far behind his Labour colleague, Eileen Desmond, who narrowly missed a seat. However, polling for the 1989 general election was held on the same day, and he was finally elected to the Dáil, taking his seat in the 26th Dáil on his third attempt. He was re-elected at the 1992 general election and again at the 1997 general election, taking the last seat in each case. He died suddenly while on parliamentary business in Lisbon on 20 March 2000. The subsequent by-election for his Dáil seat was held on 2 June and won by an independent candidate, Séamus Healy. more…
