Gregorio, I came to look after you,

to be with you.

Help you with Gabriel.

Do what I've always done.

Debora, you only ever came once.

And that was to intern Sofia.

And just as well!

It would have been worse

had we not diagnosed her then.

Your famous 'Cotard Syndrome'...

It isn't 'mine'.

It won't do Gabriel any good staying here.

It's inhospitable for a child here.

He needs the warmth of a home.

He needs to be framed.

This is secluded from everything.

How will you deal alone with him here?

This place is dismall, sinister.

Why on earth did you expell the monks?

Why take them out of here?

This place is coming to nothing, Gregorio.

The place is much better in my hands

than in that of a few pointless priests.

At least I'm maintaining the cultural

heritage of this place,

not the belief of a crucified God, as they did.

You were with your friends?

You're not going to tell me?

Idiot!

What are you doing girl?!

Where do you come from?!

Are you mental?

What's your problem?!

Imbecil!

Lunatic!

The monastery's owner should benefit

from extenuating circumstances.

The auto-proclaimed owner!

I remind you there is an investigation

still running as to the

probable cause of the orchard's poisoning

But he remains an influencial member

of our community

and author of numerous books

on our cultural heritage.

The museum is all but closed.

It is more like a narcissistic excercise

than a genuine dedication to our heritage.

So what is the future of the

monastery according to you?

The place does not belong to him.

We will do what it takes for it to

return into the hands of the brotherhood

Thank you Father for your participation.

Don't cry Gabriel.

I'm not crying.

And what is this?

It's water.

I'm also suffering Gabriel.

And believe me I know

what you are going through

But... you have to trust that

somehow you will be rewarded.

You are good Gabriel,

and your mother...

...for sure...

You have to trust Gabriel.

(mumbled) Sorry.

And, sorry, but...

I don't feel good.

Sorry.

I feel bad.

Mummy.

Gabriel.

I miss you so much.

God is good.

You are a good boy.

We can be together again.

God will give me a second chance to live.

If you stay good.

There is much suffering in this life.

And it fills me with sadness.

As it saddens God.

You need to help me.

So we can be together again.

And hug each other.

How?

By doing Good deeds.

All the fruit here are wasted, and rotting.

You need to help the monk collect them.

The orchard is suffering.

And everything is God's.

Not so long ago,

the monks lived here, Gabriel.

They lived happily.

They cultivated the orchard.

And gave thanks for God's goodness.

Iván Noel

Iván Noel is a French/Argentine producer and director, known for They Returned (2015), En tu Ausencia (2008) and ¡Primaria! (2010). In their July, 2009 journal, Camilo José Cela University compared his works to that of Truffaut and Comencini. He originally started in the arts by writing and performing his own musical compositions. The transition from music to film came from his love for combining and juxtaposing the two art forms in order to make something greater than the two by themselves. “I was having a hard time finding the sort of films to put my own music to, so I began shooting small scenes for specific pieces of mine. From small scenes I made short movies, then eventually went on to write and produce feature films. All that just to showcase my music! There must have been a cheaper way, but it was more fun this way.” –Iván Noel Since those first small scenes, he has gone on to release six feature films. All of the movies, despite their different plots, characters, and other thematic elements, share the commonality of confronting moral issues without yielding to the conventions of political correctness. more…
