Lost in Florence Page #2

Synopsis: Eric Lombard is at a crossroads - does he continue to pursue his long-shot dream of playing professional football, or does he start the next phase of his life, and apply to law school? he's the captain.

And those are the new players?

And those are the new players.

Hey, Gianni...

Si?

Let me play a game.

Is maybe not so smart to do

that.

Is easy for you to get hurt and

Anna gets mad at me.

And your knee

is not very well, so no.

I'll be alright.

You won't be alright.

You're a nice guy,

you go to good schools.

These guys don't go to school.

I know,

I used to play with them.

I thought you said

popes and medicis played?

That was a long time ago.

Come on, those guys

are getting killed.

Alright, maybe you can play

a little bit.

Alright.

Maybe it's good for them

to play with a real man,

not with boys.

But if you get hurt

I stop the game, ok?

I go talk to Paolo.

Wait.

Come.

America, come.

We use you for practice.

Not bad.

Not bad.

- Paolo.

- Eric.

Ercole.

Maybe you can

practice more with us?

I've got a better idea.

Let me join your team.

You could use me.

No, americano,

this game is only for Italians.

Only for people who live here.

I live here now.

- With my cousin, Gianni.

- It's true.

Is a strange idea.

Come, practice, come on.

I love you.

I love you, too.

Oh, Eric...

You know I love you.

That's everything.

You love me and I love you.

That's not real life, Eric.

We don't know

what's going to happen.

I know you can do

great things if you choose to.

But I don't think you're

ready to settle down.

How can you tell me what

I'm ready for...

I'm ready for this.

You gave the NFL a shot

and it didn't work out.

You have to stop dreaming

and move on with real life.

Law school can wait.

You said that last year.

You said it this year and maybe

you'll be saying it

5 years from now, I don't know.

I saw what living

hand-to-mouth did to my parents.

I can't do that.

I can't.

I'm sorry.

It's amazing, isn't it?

Two heroic statues made

by the same artist,

just a couple years apart.

And yet they represent

completely different visions

of what a hero looks like.

I need to borrow

your computer tonight.

Hey, Ercole...

Come, that's enough for today.

I want you to meet somebody.

You did very good.

You remember my sister,

you met her at my wedding.

Ummm...

Stefania...

Do you remember me?

- No, you don't

- no.

It's fine, I was a teenager,

I grew up now.

Good to see you again.

You too.

Can I introduce you

to a friend of mine, Concetta.

She doesn't speak English,

but I don't think

it's necessary, right?

- Ciao, Amore.

- Ciao.

So what do you think, Paolo?

Can I play?

You want to play

for Santo Spirito?

Great! Maybe that give us

a chance to win.

We talk about it later.

Come to our team dinner

tomorrow night.

- Ciao.

- Ciao.

If you play,

that will surprise everyone.
