My dad was away a lot when I was

a kid. Marines.

Whenever he went away somewhere I'd read

everything I could about the place he was

stationed. Everything from local customs,

to the way the land was formed.

Knowing about where he was,

ready did make me feel closer to him.

The more I read, the more I realized how

much I loved learning about the earth.
