Pranav Mohanlal (born 13 July 1990) is an Indian actor, singer, and songwriter, who works in Malayalam film industry. The son of actor Mohanlal, he began acting as a child with a minor role in his father's film Onnaman (2002), followed by a leading role in Punarjani in the same year, for which he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist. He then decided to take a break from acting to focus on his studies. After that he kept a distance away from cinema and was not keen on returning to pursue acting anytime soon. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of New South Wales. Pranav returned to films in 2015 as an assistant director to Jeethu Joseph and worked in two films—Papanasam and Life of Josutty. He appeared in the leading role in the 2018 film Aadhi, directed by Jeethu, which emerged as one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of the year. He won the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Actor for the role. He also debuted as a singer-songwriter with the film by writing, singing and performing the song "Gypsy Women".
