A new craze is going around among the web-development scene--Apache/mod_perl. We've recognized this craze and have worked hard to bring to you something similar and possibly even better--PerlEmbed. PerlEmbed brings you the power of mod_perl without the Apache restriction. Although Apache is an excellent webserver, not everybody prefers to use it. With PerlEmbed you can literally embed Perl code WITHIN your HTML files and let perlembed.cgi do all the dirty work! Include ENTIRE PROGRAMS within your HTML code and voila! You can have hundreds of Perl applications all executing within ONE process! It doesn't spawn a single external process (although you can force it to by using the system calls) so it's extremely fast AND powerfulWarningPlease note that because this is a web driven program, people *could* add malicious code as html and send it thru the cgi to be executed by the webserver. This script was designed to show the fundamentals of what *could* be done. PerlCoders takes no responsibility for anything that may happen by using this script.

WebAssign allows teachers to create, deliver, and even grade assignments for students using the World Wide Web. This CGI program takes a set of questions you write for students, turns each question into an HTML form, and delivers the entire set as an assignment. Students listed on a class roster that you create receive the assignment, complete the work, and submit their responses on their web browsers. The CGI collects, stores, and grades all student responses; teachers may view the grades on each assignment at any time. The program allows you to ask multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, numerical, and essay questions, and all but essays are graded automatically. An easy interface is provided for you to grade all essay questions. Students may view answer keys at an appropriate time that you select.

CGI.pm - a Perl5 CGI Library

Lincoln Stein states, "This perl 5 library uses objects to create Web fill-out forms on the fly and to parse their contents. It is similar to cgi-lib.pl in some respects. It provides a simple interface for parsing and interpreting query strings passed to CGI scripts. However, it also offers a rich set of functions for creating fill-out forms. Instead of remembering the syntax for HTML form elements, you just make a series of perl function calls. An important fringe benefit of this is that the value of the previous query is used to initialize the form, so that the state of the form is preserved from invocation to invocation.
